If you print the labels, it looks like you are sending cards "in bulk" and that you didn't care to personalize them. The recipient does not feel special - they are just another name on your Christmas card list. When you hand-address them, it looks like you specifically remembered each person, and took the time to send a personalized card... it will also look like you probably have a shorter list of names, so the person feels even more special to be included.

Heavens, no. In fact, printed labels may be preferable over hand-written envelopes. True, a handwritten envelope is more formal and personal. But some people have sloppy handwriting- and sloppy handwriting can lead to errors by postal workers who can't read the poor penmanship. Plus, the black-on-white contrast of a printed label is easier to see in the event of a colored envelope- for both people and sorting machines alike. Sorting machines especially have a problem with black on a red background, leading to lost mail and the intended recipients not getting their cards.

I think hand-addressed is nicer. But I'd rather get printed than no card at all.

i would consider it not bad form if it were just the address, it would be a bad thing to use the labels to sign it

Many people love to use the preprinted labels that are cute because they are quicker to use. However, I still prefer the hand written addressed envelopes.

Not at all. I personally think it's bad form to have your "signature" printed inside.

Very bad form. Personal correspondence should be written.

At one time it was considered poor taste. Now there are labels made for Christmas; they have designs on the borders. I think it is OK.

Yes!

Printed labels smack of insincerity.

I think if you put some time into it, used a cute font, maybe added a small graphic, it would be perfectly fine.
