It's a guy from work i'm into and I've never hung out with him, but we talk at work and on myspace. I've known him a few weeks which is why I thought this strange.

It means he likes you and it is a low stress way of asking you out and spending time with you. Do it if you are keen he is just looking for a little confidence. We are all scared of you saying 'no', to a more romantic date. It is kind of sweet.
And remember that a lot of guys will give some really stupid answers to your Q, just because thats what they do.

It sounds like he wants to ask you out. It is kind of a non-date that allows him to spend time with you. If you reject him, his ego can tell him you didn't reject him. If you accept, he knows that you are more willing to go out with at a later date. The alternative is he is a wimp and cannot figure out what to buy for his mom and sister.

Because like most guys they don't have a clue about what buy for gifts and its nice to get a woman's perspective on what type of gift they'd like to get.
