We did visit DR, and was advised when they spike high fevers you can give them tylenol and 2 hours later motrin - helps control fever. And we do know that it is flu - 2 nd day of it.

Chicken Soup-=--even MD Doctors admit and encourage it there are compounds in the Chicken Soup that fight the flu. The best kind of course is the Homemade or Boil some Chicken and then add some of the stock to store bought soup-You can skim the fat but wouldn't be too concerned about it. But be sure to thoroughly boil the chicken. If you decide to do the Homemade-kids like Pasta and Rice so can divide chicken stock and make some with rice and some with pasta-add FRESH Celery, Carrots, and if your kids like onion,garlic---add some either fresh (which is Best)onion and garlic-cut into very small pieces or even mashed-the Garlic and Onion have Anti-Viral Compounds which kill viruses and flu is a virus caused illness and season to taste-but low salt. I have also since I love Garlic and Onion amd when sick aren't that concerned about garlic breath-can always gargle with mouthwash- Cut up a very large Onion, cut up several like 1/2 of a whole garlic, Cut up several Large potatoes or can also do the smaller potatoes but I like big Chunks, Cut up lengthwise for fairly large pieces of carrot , also added Broccoli Florets,Celery pieces. Pieces(large to medium) then add enough water to almost but not quite top of the pot so when boil will not flow over the rim and then medium heat cooked until potatoes tender-Why large pieces better for will assure carrots and broccoli will get done at around the same time-if broccoli and carrots still have a bit of firmness thats Ok-when approx almost done add enough Vegetable Bullions to give a good taste try 2-3 taste and add until to your liking. First ate this soup when ill with walking Pneumonia and usually is 3-4 week illnessBut I felt much better in a week and with the flu should be 2-3daysat the most. the Onion and garlic are the main ingredients to fight bacteria, viral infecction while the Potatoe adds Potassium which promotes healthy cell growth and with the carrot, broccoli and celery is/are antioxident powerhouse to boost the immune system which then more efficiently throws off any illness.I ate this soup 2-3 times a day but with the children may give the chicken soup and then interchange with the Vegetable Soup and inbetween some of the liquid to drink. Also offer lowsugar fruit can be canned low sugar-pears,peaches,applecause. Pineapple and so on. Can also give extra chewable children Vitamin C-also fights viral and boosts the immune system. The fruit is good esp when their appetite is low-esp good when chilled a bit in the fridge. Good Luck for with 6 know you have your hands full-wouldn't hurt for you and your husband to eat the soups to ward off you both getting it to or if you do for a quicker recovery. Have a very merry Christmas

There is no 'cure' for colds or 'flu which are caused by viruses. You just have to wait until your body fights it off. If you have the 'flu, you should stay home and don't go to work. That way you don't spread it round to everybody else. Get plenty of bed rest and drink plenty of fluid. If you have a blocked nose or sore throat, menthol lozenges will at least make you feel a little more comfortable. As somebody else suggested, Vicks Vaporub is also good stuff. There is no point in asking your doctor for antibiotics. They do not cure viruses.

with any virus, symptom control (via meds, steam, humidifiers, hot baths [unless there is a fever], etc) is key while it runs its course. it is so important to keep the immune system flushed with more than the normal amount of fluids per day (also fights dehydration) rest, so the immune system can function and recharge. make sure to get enough calories for energy. if you think it is the flu, you may want to take them to your doctor. there are now prescription anti-viral medications available for the flu although i'm not sure if they are for kids and i think you have to start them right when you get sick. still it doesn't hurt to get an opinion from a doctor.

Lots and lots and lots of water. Their pee should be clear. The point is to help the white blood cells clean things up inside as much as possible.
