Use a volumising Shampoo and Conditioner, every brand now has a range.. Stay away from Spray Gels as they will flatten the hair and weigh it down. when looking for a hairspray also look for one that is specifically for volumising hair. And don't forget to tease you hair then spray it with hairspray, that will give you the volume you are after. good luck.

I can't really vouch for your hair type; you say your hair is thin, and whereas mine is quite thick towards the back, I feel it's thinner in the front, and that is where I need the most volume.
But anyway, here is what I do and it works for me:
1) I wash and condition my hair (nothing special here)
2) I dispense some mousse in the palm of my hand (doesn't really matter what brand or type. I have been using Breck maximum hold defining mousse), rub it slightly between both hands and distribute it evenly throughout my hair.
3) I blowdry my hair UPSIDE-DOWN. This is the most important part. Blowdrying your hair upright will only train the hair to stick down on your head rather than having a more upward wave.
Once my hair is dry I flip my head back up and style it the way I want. Sometimes my hair sticks out a tiny bit where I don't want it to, but all I have to do to fix it is spray a little water and smooth it out, then go back over it with the blowdryer set on Low.
I hope this could be of some help. I realize not everyone's hair is the same, and what works for me could be a total failure for you.

I have really thick hair and I wish it were slightly thinner. It's always getting too poofy. And it's hard to get those cute little barettes in it.
First of all use the thickening shampoo/conditioner. I read somewhere that putting it up into a loose bun or ponytail at bedtime would make it look like it had more volume. Of course these are only ways to make it "appear" thicker.

I have thin hair also, My daughter is a hairdresser, she cut my hair in layers in the back but not too short and left a little length on the front like a wedge haircut I was surprised to see how much thicker and healthier my hair looked, the volume is outstanding also, why don't you try it?

You can use rollers opposed to curling irons. Tease the hair from the back of the curl and use volumizing shampoos. You can always get extentions added for fullness and volume.

A good protein, vitamin B, E, and C diet. Try eating more fish, nuts, fruit, and use a good conditioner. Also avoid straighteners and excessive blow drying.
