Crusades were not the first religious armies can you name the atrocities caused by religion? Are they noble causes? Have they ever stuck as the first effective rule? Is religion Democratic at any level?

No religion of even a moderate size in the US does or could get away with having a Militia.
I am less scared of the atrocities of religions and more scared of the atrocities of atheism like China, the Soviet Union, Cambodia, Vietnam ...
Some religions are democratic like protestant religions.
Catholicism is less democratic but any sensible religion isn't willing to risk getting involved in politics in the US because they will be ostracized and lose their tax exempt status.

More innocents have been killed in the name of religion than for all the other reasons combined.
