well, could be a few things. How do you usually handle compliments? Do you seem gracious or act a little weirded out? Maybe he did it at the beginning and you were weirded out so he didn't' know how to handle it. I've done that with guys before. Or maybe he's just clueless, some people are. You could talk to him about it. Or maybe he's self centered. I would talk to him about it before you assume he's being a jerk though.
