Her hair just fell out when you put the heat to her scalp? Sometimes heat will loosen up your pores and pulling the iron will pull one or two pieces out but I've never had a chunk come out...Anyway, if it doesn't cost to much, have her go to the salon and get extensions glued around or even to the spot to cover it. Ask her if she's been on any medication or anything that would make her hair fall, or even have her go to the doctor. This could be something serious or nothing at all.

The heat setting may have been to high for her hair type. To cover the spot first of all clip the burnt ends off. Then try a curl look. Curls add fullness and will cover up the spot. You could wear the hair in a updo it will allow the hair from other places to cover up the spot. All this depends on the location of the spot and the length and texture of the hair. Be creative and for future curling purposes use rollers. Cold wave rods are good. For straighter looks blow dry with the comb attachment. when using straighteners use ceramics and always start out low with setting and advance. Always use a thermal spray or oil based product when using heated hair utensils. Good Luck!

Oh gosh, unlucky. That's strange as to why it fell out, her hair could have been very weak due to a hair colour that has weakened her hair strands or the straightener could be faulty in that it said medium but over heated! Maybe if she gets some individual hair extensions put in only to the area where the hair is burnt, this will look natural and nobody will be able to tell. Lucky you have a True friend that didn't get angry with you, not many people would have been that calm. good luck.

Did her hair fall out or break off? I've never heard of hair falling out due to straightening, but I have heard of it breaking. The damage is done now, so the only thing is to wait for it to grow out.
In the future, before you flat iron somebody's hair, even your own, do this little test. Heat up your flat iron on the setting you are going to use, and once its warmed up, close it on a piece of plain white tissue (Kleenex) If the tissue turns yellow, your flat iron is too hot.
Also, I would seriously recommend that you use a product specifically made to protect your hair from the heat of the flat iron.

I am a hairdresser and I worked with a girl who has hilighted hair and she turned her iron on and it burnt her hair off. come to find out she sent her iron in to be checked and the heating elements were messed up causeing the iron to get hotter than it should.. also if your hair is dry and brittle it dont take much to burn it off. as far as covering it up hair extention is the only way
but maybe next time take a smaller section of hair in that cant be seen if it does fall out

Sounds like you burnt her hair out, this can happen with really fine hair, too much heat and maybe her hair was damaged in the beginning. Don't worry to much it grow back and next time dont experiment, go to a salon.

Try hair extensions, go to Sallys Beauty Supply and buy some. Next time use some cream to protect the hair from straight irons, like lo'real cream.

have u ever straightened hair? i doubt it. the only reason this would happen would be if u left it on one spot for too long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeah i would feel bad too but if shes not mad than theres nothing to fret about its not like u can do anything about it just keep reassuring her it will grow back and when ppl ask what happened to her step in and put yourself exxageratedly at faaultt. tell her she can burn ur hair off too to make her feel better

it might not even be your fault- some people will have their hair fall out randomly. but damage done, maybe she can put the ponytail on the side so that the hair thats missing wont be so obvious.
