I wrote most of my letters after lights out using my moonbeam. Was dead tired at the beginning of boot and really didn't get to write too many letters till after about the fourth week. Give him time...they'll come...Just some advice write him and write him often. Spray some perfume on the envelope...(this will drive the other recruits crazy and he'll be the most sought after guy at Boot). Also send him news from home, not just your news but the news of the day. We don't get any info about the outside world at all and anything that you give will be shared with all. Good luck to you. The first day they are usually given like a minute to scratch a note off to mom and dad just to let them know they made it to the island. It will be a few days after that , that he will have any time to write. Marine bootcamp is intense at first until you adjust. Even if he can't write, if you have his address keep writing to him.

I think they can start sending out letters in the first 2 weeks. You may want to check with his parents though, he may not have enough time to write both of you just yet. You should keep writing him though!

longest it could be is until he wants to write you if he does at all. maybe he said he joined but is really just hiding from you cause he doesn't want to be with you but is to much of a wimp to tell you or the drill sargent is killing him every day so when he gets back to his bunk all he wants to do is sleep so wait 2-6 months

I didn;t get a single one when mine went through Navay Boot Camp. if your BF isn't a letter writier, don't expect things to change.. he's incredibly busy and may not realize that you need letters too.

Give him at least a month. He's got thirteen weeks to become a Devil Dog, and his priorities are vastly different now.
