A businessman had been plotting to kill his partner, so he can have everything to himself. On one rainy night with the worst weather, he drove to his place and ended up stabbing him to death. He came back home. He had 7 workers; told each of them to clear out all evidences possible - like no blood stains, no marks in the car, clean the car inside and out. Next morning the police came knocking on his door; they checked his house to find any evidence, but of no avail. So the inspector started checking the car for any clues...couldn't find anything either. So he goes and asks the businessman for his car keys. He opens it up looks inside, couldn't find anything. He sat down on the driver seat and inserted the key.. turned the car on. Right when he did that, he told the troops to arrest him.

How did the cop find out he was the criminal?

P.S. Give me a smart answer with explanation

Well, his iPod kicked on which was connected via the mp3 jack on his Hummer and his play list started Judas Priest Treehouse of Death. One of the officers had a K9 and they went to the backyard where they checked the treehouse. (This was very difficult as the K9 could not climb the tree). Inside the treehouse they located a Curtis Mayfield Superfly Album. On the back of the album they noticed the song Freddie's Dead was underlined. This happened to be the name of his business partner.

When they climbed down from the tree, the investigator noticed a dry sales receipt on the ground. He discovered that the receipt was for Cherry Garcia ice cream. Of course, everyone knows that this was named after Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead. On the back of the receipt was the initials of P. F. which the investigator knew stood for Pink Floyd who produced the album, The Wall. The officer realized that REM's Wall of Death said to beware of the bearded lady.

The officer looked across the yard and noticed a young female who was sporting some whiskers. When asked, she said that she was one of the seven workers who was paid to clean up the crime scene. Well, she said that the one who killed Freddie was not the businessman at all, she said that he may have intended to harm him, but he was actually at home making some crumpets for his wife and kids.

The wipers were on from the night before. That alone would not be enough. But he then checked the GPS record to see just where the guy went on the rainy night before. OR when he had run to his car, he dropped the knife as he was running to get in out of the storm.... and when the cop turned the car on and the wipers ran.... the knife came up with them. OR he had used a wiper to stab the guy and there was a wiper missing.

Best Wishes,

Sue

On the night of the murder there was a witness who saw a man with a BMW go into this place. A few minutes later the man came running out with blood all over and cruised away. The witness calls the police and in the place they find the victim dead and inspector runs a list of suspects who own BMW's and one of them was the partner.

The following morning, inspector goes to the partner's house and looks for any evidence to link him to the crime. When he got to the car he looked around...no blood, nothing. Then he turns the ignition on and loud music plays from the CD player. It was the same exact song heard by the witness when the BMW cruised out of the victim's place.

Well a smart explanation would be that the wipers being on isn't a good enough reason to arrest him. Why is it that the only reason he would have been driving in the rain was to go and kill his partner? Doesn't he need to go buy milk every now and then? The riddle should mention that the rain only lasted the night and when he was questioned about his whereabouts he said he'd stayed in all night. Then it would make sense to suspect him when the wipers came on. Leaving the riddle like it is means the detective is one helluva a dumb cop who just likes to jump to the most ludicrous conclusions.

Because the windshield wipers were on, and the friends cleaned the car inside an out so there were no water spots on the car from the rain. the gps also told the police where the vehicle was the night before

OK, i could only come up with two main conclusions: first, the inspector turned on the car and the head lights and windshield wipers were on, that would say he was out in the bad weather.
----- Second, ya, he did tell his 7 workers to clean the car inside and out, but did he clean the keys? there could of been blood.

The other answers are good ideas. I wouldn't have thought of those. I think it has to do with the seven workers. With a specific number like that it seems like a clue.

the GPS turned on so he could see the last location visited and them time, that time would show that he was there about the time of death. Or he hit the on-star button and asked them about the last trip and the time

Were the windshield wipers on? He probably lies about where he was.. saying he was home or something.. but since it was raining only last night, he found out.

btw I didn't look at other answers or anything yet...
