Yes it can be substituted and yes it will measure the same.
I only make cookies with butter, shortening is very very bad for you. Butter and shortening set up differently, so there may be slight texture differences in addition to the flavor differences.

yes, you could use butter in place and the taste would be a little better, not too much difference though. The measure is exactly the same. I hope that this helps you and good luck!

YUP....it's almost the same.the greasy texture just like butter.only that shortening is white in colour.i do this all the time.just use the same measurement
