is it ok if i court someone i've been liking for a long time... i mean i really like her.. but she just broke up with her bf... when will be the perfect time to start courting her?

be there for her. she needs time to adjust to life without him. when she's comfortable with you and happier, that means she's ready for you to ask her out.

If you are already friends you could ask her how she would feel about another relationship.
If you aren't already friends, you can swoop in an be a friend for her (if she is distraught about the break up... if she is happy about it, then I think sooner.)
I think you have to take a pulse of her feelings at the moment but anywhere from a day to a couple weeks. How long did she date the previous guy? If it was a long time she'll probably need more time to get over him. If it was shorter then sooner is ok.
