Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be. I don't think my faithful friends are happier than I am, although they are sometimes a bit smug about their ideas of the afterlife, and it seems to distress them that I don't share their fears of being "left behind." So, no, I don't think they're any happier. Perhaps a bit delusional, but they're amusing otherwise.

I don't know any unhappy atheists. In fact, a friend of mine is an atheist and everybody always notices that he goes around with a smile on his face all the time. Almost nothing makes him unhappy. I don't see where you're coming from with this because I don't say people are unhappy because they're atheists or religious. Why would I want to pretend to be an atheist? That would mar my credibility and lessen the impact of what I say. I am quite happy with my religion, you are quite happy with yours, so what is the huge deal?

It's kind of like saying are you happier on drugs than when you are free. Christianity drugs the senses and makes you believe in a biblical bible that was written by mankind. Atheists are allowed to keep an open mind and search for the real truth about God within themselves.

No way, when I do something wrong I know I'm not going to burn for eternity, its great not having that on my back, that doesn't meen i go around doing bad things, just because I'm an atheist doesn't meen I'm a bad person I just deal with my guilt in a more positive manner which at the end of the day I believe makes me a happier person

i'm an atheist and i think Christians are way more happy. we should be more open minded and consider what they have to say.

just kiding i'm a Christian as you can tell by the icon. i'm a happy person so therefore if any atheist is unhappy then i am happier than they are.

i see a lot of Christians stuggling and who are unhappy but this is because they look to the religion to fulfill their needs instead of serving God and other. God is not a genie in a bottle to grant our wishes. we are to serve him and do his will.

Well I am a real Christian and I have had some hard time in my life. I got hard time to come. Some days I am not to happy.
Sad or happy I trust in my Savor. I think of the Ten Commandments, I think of the judgment ( Hell ) that would come on me if I did not know Jesus. He save me form the danger ( that is coming ) and I have a thankful heart.

They claim to be so happy. Maybe ignorance really is bliss. Or the promise of a happy afterlife is enough to justify a mean and rude existence in this one.

I have my doubts. Just as primitive peoples live in fear of sun gods, rain gods, wind gods, fire gods, and other forces they can't understand, christians live in fear of a devil lurking behind every shrub, and forces they don't bother to understand.

I don't see happiness in that myself. Even a cursory glance at the real world shows their scriptures can't be correct.

My husband is somebody who does not believe in the Christian view of "God". I would call him a "soft" atheist - because he is open to dialogue on the subject.

He is the nicest, kindest, happiest man I have ever met. he doesn't live his life in fear of God or in praiseof God. He lives his life - for himself and his loved ones - he is a good person - for himself and his loved ones - in order to get more joy out of life - not to go to heaven.

I am catholic and I love to read about other religions. I believe in God. In a more easy going open hearted spiritual way then a strict "Christian" would.

That made my head turn like an owl. I am Christian and my thinking isn't so narrow minded like that. I feel people are people. Some are happy, some aren't happy; regardless of their beliefs. Some people are just plain happy to make others unhappy.
