I was looking online and I kept finding how to make a perfect ballet bun. It doesn't have to be one specific way. I want everyone's opinion.

If you want a heavy-duty bun that can survive in all kinds of things like a school day or ballet class and you don't care how messed-up it looks in the end...

First, get a comb or brush and two elastic bands.

Tip your head back, way back. Run your fingers over the top and sides of your head to smooth it and gather your hair in a ponytail. Tie it with an elastic band or a small scrunchie that's fairly tight, but not overly.

Then gently pull your hair over to one side and twist it. Loose, tight, doesn't matter, it's all a preference of style. Just make sure it's not really really loose or really really tight, otherwise it won't work. If your hair pokes out easily, try wetting it a little.

wrap the twisted ponytail clockwise or counterclockwise around the elastic band you used earlier. tuck the end under the entire thing and secure your bun (hooray! a bun!) with another elastic band. If you want, you can put a nice decorated scrunchie or elastic band over the second elastic band to make it look nice.

If you are making a bun for special occasions, get a brush, two elastic bands, a decorative ponytail holder and a hair stick or two hair sticks that are the same. (Hair sticks are pretty and easy to find at stores like Claire's.)

First, brush your hair thoroughly to smooth out all the tangles. Gather your hair in a ponytail like before, but brush your hair again once it's been caught in your hand. Then secure it with the elastic band. If you would like a nice touch, leave some small sections of hair out of the ponytail to give it a more natural look.

Twist the ponytail like before and secure it. Carefully pull out some of the hair at the top of the bun to create a tail. This will involve some trial and error, and may not work for some people.

Put the decorative elastic band over the plain one. To finish the touch, take a hair stick and poke it through the finished bun. Put the other one into the bun in the same way.

Gather your hair into a tight ponytail, secure with a ponytail holder.

Separate your hair into two or three sections, depending on how thick your hair is.

Twist one section tightly, then wrap around the base of your ponytail, securing with bobby pins.

Repeat with the other two sections, wrapping each one around the previous section and securing tightly.

Shake your head to make sure your bun doesn't fall apart. Use more bobby pins to secure any sections that are loose.

For a ballet bun, wrap a hair net around your bun, so you don't have a messy bun and don't have any wisps that fall out while you are dancing.

Use hair spray or bobby pins to secure bangs or any other hair that falls into your face.

This bun is perfect for performances, as it shouldn't fall out and won't look messy or unprofessional if you do it correctly.

Get a bun exercise machine, and do the bun exercise 30 minutes a day. Soon you'll get a nice firm but perfect bun. Heh, heh........

Well I am a hair dresser this is a hard one to explain, well if your hair has a good lenght pull back in to a pony tail, use a smoothing cream for the hair in the pony tail use this so it smoothes all together, and your going to want to roll it like a cinnamin roll and pin it!
hope this helps!
