Yep. *Hold up a sec, I'm going to look it up*
But you're not going to like the answer, it won't say specifically. You have to use logic.

OK, here we go.
Mat 5:28 But I say to you, anyone who stares at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Now for the explanation. Do you really think this is only geared towards men? It's dealing with thoughts. If a man stares at a woman and lusts after her, he's fantasizing. If you're masturbating, generally you fantasize. Logical conclusion: fantasizing is not condoned in the Bible. Therefore masturbation is not condoned in the Bible. But that's just my opinion. You definitely won't find a verse in the Bible that says "Thou shalt not masturbate".

To keep up the argument/debate with the user below, even though you may not see this... Considering the nature of the question asked, I think my answer is perfectly adequate. The question was "Is there anything IN THE BIBLE that IMPLIES that masturbation is a bad thing". They weren't asking if it IS bad by definition. Obviously, according to secular and worldly standards, masturbation is not wrong, it's perfectly normal and encouraged. But that wasn't the question. Sorry for the caps, I just wanted to emphasize those words a bit. =)

Well one would be Isiah: Sins of the Flesh which specifies that masturbation, fornication and sex when married with someone else are sins. Also all references to the desires of the flesh and not the spirit refer to lust, laziness, violence, etc. Personally, I am a Christian and have a strong Faith. Just the same as I know in my heart that Christ is the Savior I can tell what is immoral and what are sins. This knowledge comes from faith. I have chosen not to masturbate, which if you believe that Christ can strengthen you spirit to overcome the flesh you can too. I have not masturbated in 29 days and honestly don't plan to for the rest of my life and I don't regret that choice in the least bit. I can truly say that I feel a million times happier than every time I masturbated added together.

Good luck and God bless,
Elisha

Hmmmm.........

Who cares? It doesn't hurt anyone and its a great sleep aid.

P.S. I'm anxious to see the "logic" in the answer above, ha ha.

So quoting the bible is logic? No, that's could be considered appeal to authority and is a logical fallacy.

"An appeal to authority or argument by authority is a type of argument in logic, consisting on basing the truth value of an otherwise unsupported assertion on the authority, knowledge or position of the person asserting it. It is also known as argument from authority, argumentum ad verecundiam (Latin: argument to respect) or ipse dixit (Latin: he himself said it). It is one method of obtaining propositional knowledge, but a fallacy in regards to logic, because the validity of a claim does not follow from the credibility of the source. The corresponding reverse case would be an ad hominem attack: to imply that the claim is false because the asserter is objectionable.

On the other hand, there is no fallacy involved in simply arguing that the assertion made by an authority is plausible: it is likely true, we just don't know for sure, because authority alone is not a proof."

Masturbation is a normal, natural activity throughout life. It may even contribute to mental health and not doing it may lead to psychosexual problems. Most people (teens+ in particular) find masturbation as a very pleasurable activity.

'Genesis 38:6-9
This passage describes how Tamar's first husband Er was killed by God because he was wicked. Under ancient Jewish law, Er's brother Onan was required to have sexual intercourse with Tamar. Their first son would be attributed to Er. Because any offspring would not be considered his child, Onan decided to use a common and relatively ineffective contraceptive technique to prevent any conception. He employed "coitus interruptus". That is, he disengaged from Tamar just before he ejaculated, and "spilled his semen on the ground." (NIV) God was displeased at this action and killed Onan as well.'

Masturbation is only bad if you believe it so.

Hope I helped!

No.

The only passage is this:

Gen.38:9-10
"And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother. And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also."

It pertains more to Onan spilling his seed and not impregnating his brother's wife. God wasn't mad about him wanking it, he was mad because Onan disobeyed a direct order.

God's a tyrant!

Only for men honey! I found that loophole years ago! It says in there that men shouldn't "spill their seed on the ground" but guess what? We don't have any seed! So play on! I do.

Scratching an itch feels good, getting a massage feels good, and playing with your own self feels pretty good too. What's the difference?

6th commandment covers it as it does fornication. More to it than just adultery.
