I personally feel like they are. People think that lack of intellegence is alright and they fell intimidated by a person that has education so they make themselves feel better by prophesying against those attempting to become more intelligent.

Hmmm, to begin with I'm not sure if we can say that intelligence evolves. I think as time goes by we just become aware of new aspects of it that were somewhat "hidden" to us before. If you think of the intelligence that made men build such things as the seven wonders of the ancient world you can give their intelligence exactly the same credit you give to those of today's men. Nature, in this case human nature keeps perfecting itself constantly since that is its end. Now, prophesying the end of the world does not necessarily oppose the further development of knowlege in all its forms. The end of the world has always been prophesied due to a simple truth: things have an end in both senses of the term ( purpose/aim and ending). However, some people make wrong interpretations of it, mostly based on religious beliefs, and in this attempt they seem to oppose or disregard any form of "progress". As I see it, their assumptions would be a bit similar to your question, the premise being Science or scientific progress (reason) as opposed to Religion or spirituality (faith) as if they were both incompatible. I don´t think they are incompatible. If you look into their specific realms, you'll see that they complement each other. I read something once which summerises what I'm trying to say, "Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth." Hope your heart and reason keep looking for it. Take care.x

All the prophesying has already been done, we're just waiting for it to come to pass.

2Pe 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

2Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

2Pe 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake [as they were] moved by the Holy Ghost.

Jesus said HE will be back soon to JUDGE the LIVING and the DEAD. so none knows when will it be, including those people whom keeps on saying "the END OF THE WORLD!". Evolution of Intelligence is FAST growing. To me, maybe the WORLD will be ENDED, when TIMES COMES that someone's Intelligence thru technology, comes up on how to destroy the whole World? But I do Still BELIEVE, that All we DO and DONE in this World are like programs in the Computer, which are being manipulated by the PROGRAMMER, who is the CREATOR of the UNIVERSE! GOD Bless!

You know, I really don't get it with those kind of people. In the simplest way possible; The Lord's prophecies are written in the Holy Bible. All of the history written in the Bilble can be related to other such historical documents, such as the Chronicles of Kings. Christian Scientists totally believe in extroidanry happenings and events, most of it scientifically explained. God is Science. How could one have such a limited account for things, most of what is Holy and Created can't be explained by men. However our minds have the power to create and explain and evolutionize. This is my opinion only.

The people prophesying the end of days are opposed to the evolution of intelligence. I don't know all their views, but if they prophesize the end of days, evidently they cannot believe that we can evolve intelligently to avoid destruction.

To evolution yes!

To the evolution of intelligence -NO! As long as mankind remains on this earth his intelligence will continue to increase or evolve!

Physicists are prophesying the end of days. The sun will explode and die, consuming the earth. The universe may run out of nuclear fuel (i.e. hydrogen atoms) and "freeze." Other physicists say that the universe will become a number of black holes and will eventually collapse in on itself. The more that I study science, the more that the Bible seems reasonable. Jesus said that "heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away."
