My cat eats science diet, and she has a decent appetite (definately eats her food when she's hungry, and "calls" when her food is near empty).

However, just today I found what looked like poop at first (because the food is brown)-but it is ultimately determined that it's chunks of the science diet.

Please help! thanks.

My cat did that too, I thought she was Bulimic or something....lol. Turns out my vet said she is eating her food too fast, just raise her dish up, I place it on a low butter tub now.... this worked. It slowed down her eating and she has not thrown up her food again, this was about 6 weeks ago.
Good Luck with your baby.

It's always a good idea (if this happens frequently) to change foods and if it continues after that, check wtih the vet. Science Diet isn't necessarily the best. See if your vet can suggest another brand.

I have a cat that throws up sometimes. I got him when he was 4. The people who gave him to me said that he gorges and then throws up and that I should only feed him a handful at a time. I've had him for 3 years now and he still throws up. The vet told me that some cats are just pukers. I have him on Nutro brand food which is one of the higher quality cat foods. He can go for two months without throwing up and then he'll throw up twice in one week.

I wish I could give you a reason, but I thought I would share my experiences so you know you're not alone.

Good luck...

Some cats will throw up if they get stressed right after eating. Sometimes if she has a hairball blocking the way, she'll also throw up her food. And sometimes a cat will start vomiting up food if it isn't well. I had a cat who was fine but then started throwing up regularly, turned out he had a huge tumor growing in his gut that had gotten so bad it started affecting his ability to keep food down (it was inoperatorable and I had to put him to sleep). If your kitty continue to regurgitate regularly, see the vet. If I had taken my cat sooner to the vet we might have been able to remove the tumor (but maybe not, there were no signs before he started vomiting all the time).

My cats have the same problem.....they eat and throw it back up. They usually eat WAY TOO fast. You really can't stop it. But if something looks wrong, like it's has blood in it, immediately see your vet. My cats have never done that, but it is just for safety.
Anyways, cats sometimes eat way too fast. I was thinking of trying this with my pet, but you could give your cat little portions of the food at a time, slowly, and see if they don't throw it back up. I never tried it, but it could work. It is a little time consuming, but you never know. Well, good luck.

Anytime a pet starts vomiting, you should call a vet. She might've just had a tummy ache, but then again it could be something worseike a worm.
Is she an indoor or outdoor cat? If outdoor, its much more likely that it's some kind of worm or virus.
Good luck

It's possible that your cat ate something else that disagreed with her. My cats are bad about eating string, ribbon, etc that they find around the house. If it continues, then contact your vet. One time is nothing to get too worried about, but I know how much a pet can mean to a person.

If she just threw up the one time (she's not rejecting food) it's probably hairballs. Check into that, you can add just a little bit of oil of sometype (I don't remember, you'll have to research that) to their food and it should help with the hair balls. They also sell hairball remedy.
Check into hairballs before you dial the doctor if she's not throwing up all the time.
Don't be so quick to switch her food, figure out what's going on first.

Your cat could have gotten a hair ball and when she threw up the hairball some food came up with it. It this continues, you could give her a little butter or yogurt on a spoon and let her lick it off. This will help her with the hair balls.

Cats vomit for several reasons. Are there any plants in your home she could've eaten? Some are toxic. Inspect the vomit for round/tape worms. Indoor/outdoor cat? Parasite exposure? Distemper? Rhinovirus? Any other symptoms? Your vet would know for sure.

Sometimes cats will throw up their food, if they ate too fast. My parents have an indoor cat that has done it several times, all because he chows down, too quickly.
