Sometimes you just have to walk away, if it's that bad of an environment. That's what I do.

There is a scripture that has always been a big help to me in this area. Lets the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight O LORD my strength and my redeemer.

Also the Bible says to Pray without ceasing. If you are praying for the people that are around you fro your heart and mind, nothing can sneak in and cause you to sin.

Stay away from the uncomfortable environment as much as is possible. Go for a walk, go to the Bathroom, start a conversation about something that you know is what would be pleasing to God. You take hold of the situation.

Remember - there are some places we as Christians should not go. The work place and school are two of the hardest places to live for God.

I don`t know how long you`ve been a christian.As we get closer ,more knowledgeable in the word,we grow stronger. We have to study to understand.Faith is the main source of my strength.I am better some days then others.I fail to be the best I can be more times then not but I never forget who I serve and that gets me through.And when we do fall short we need to ask forgiveness and pray for strength and strive to do better.This life has many pitfalls.Some we can remove ourselves from and some we can`t.My advice would be to pray and keep God in your sights. God Bless.

You have to stand on God's Word when you find yourself in those situations. Many times a smile has broken out on my face when I remember the verse from James 1 that tells us to "count it pure joy when you face many trials of different kinds". I smile because it makes me want to laugh at how ridiculous that sounds at first and then I remember that God's Word is true and it really is an opportunity to grow in patience even if it doesn't seem like a fun or joyful time.

There are many other verses that can help. The key is to get your focus off of the sliver of time you find yourself in and to change it to Jesus and how God works all things together for good.

Psalm 37

1Do not fret because of evil men
or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.

3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:

6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.

8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.

9 For evil men will be cut off,
but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.

10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more;
though you look for them, they will not be found.

11 But the meek will inherit the land
and enjoy great peace.

Psalm 39

1 I said, "I will watch my ways
and keep my tongue from sin;
I will put a muzzle on my mouth
as long as the wicked are in my presence."
2 But when I was silent and still,
not even saying anything good,
my anguish increased.

3 My heart grew hot within me,
and as I meditated, the fire burned;
then I spoke with my tongue:

4 "Show me, O LORD, my life's end
and the number of my days;
let me know how fleeting is my life.

5 You have made my days a mere handbreadth;
the span of my years is as nothing before you.
Each man's life is but a breath.

whats going on around you can either make you a stronger christian/person or a sad/sinner...you are the only one that can control how you think,what kind of environment, shouldn't matter,their are people in a lot worse shape than you, don't have a pity party
be thankful for what you do have and remember life and death or in the power of the tongue...it's in the Bible,stay in the word and keep your eyes on Jesus and it want make any difference where you are you will be OK.

Ugh. That's hard. I'm dealing with that now myself. Honestly, I don't think you're going to get much good, solid Christian advice on this website. Plenty of decent secular advice on good living, perhaps, but advice on being a consistent Christian? Probably not. I'd go into things I'm struggling with, but I'd rather not post it out here for all to see, and it'd take too long. Plus I doubt I could help you other than to show you that you're not alone in your struggle.
P.S. If you'd like, you can e-mail me though.

I am a christian also.....just go to church with your family and try to invite friends to Youth Group Activities. Just don't be afraid to let people know you are a Christian. I have had some friends become Christians after I invited them to Young Life and a Christian Camp. Go to the younglife website to see if you have young life near you.

It takes time to part with temptation all the way. It is understanding that gives strength and endurance, and this makes one trustworthy to oneself and God. Uncomfortable environments are only tests to see how we are doing. If we understand truth, we do not fall away from it, because it is our shield and refuge.

We are continually being tried. You are not alone, believe me. I know sometimes it's like not thinking about food when you are hungry. Just think about the rewards that WILL come for being a righteous person and shunning bad thoughts.

By doing what is right under god's eyes. If you are about to do something you know is wrong, most likely it's wrong to god too. Also by loving him and thanking him for everyhting you have. Pray every night. One very inportant thing is to always wish your enemies life and health. Always pray to god for them, even if you don't like them. The most important thing: Always have faith, for faith dies last.
