Whats your opinion of the format war between Blue Ray and Hd Dvd. And is it possible Direct to Drive downloads will take hold, so instead of of buying a physical disc we could all just download directly to big hard drives.. And does the ps3's blue ray player justify a 600$ price tag.

Alot of questions i'll do my best bro let's see here, my opinion is don't buy into it now, when companies are split in deciding who to go with consumers get screwed, just like betamax this will hopefully change when consumers don't buy into it, direct downloads if they catch to mainstream it will take at least another 7 years as does everything to hit mainstream once it does catch on, and most people are furious that the ps3 added the blue ray because it's so new and marked the price up $200.00 (what the last article i read about it said they marked it up) so i would wait and see what catches on, xbox 360 has a hd-dvd but at least they didn't include it and make you pay for it when you just wanted a system, go with the wii or xbox 360 both are better in my opinion but if your a sony person you will have to weigh the call of spending the extra money for more expensive dvds usually like $30.00 and such, hopefully this helps and i'm not just rambling

Okay personally I don't buy into all the HD, Blue ray wars and stuff. I don't understand how to hook it up, or all the wires involved. I'm only 15 and my parents have just gotten into plasma t.vs, and projectors. I just want to play the game and have good graphics. In accordance to your ps3 question, no it doesn't justify the $600 price. There are other things that make it so expensive. The bluetooth stuff, and the 60 gigabytes of memory make it so expensive. Also some other things that deal with the way it runs. But I guess adding the blu-ray made it a bit more expenisve. But for people who like blu-ray then they can save 400 dollars instead of buying the blu-ray DVD player which i've seen go for $999 and get the PS3.

blu-ray is so much better, although i can't get as many blu-ray movies here it has been easy enough to order them from the states or elsewhere. not only are they releasing new movies but they are also releasing old movies on to blu-ray too, they have quite a collection actually. planet earth was one of the first blu-ray things i got and i was blown away with how crystal clear the picture is. obviously the fact that the blu-ray discs store more data makes them more favourable too, we're going to see a whole lot more of special features etc which is great for movie fanatics. it will be interesting to see how they fill the discs.

I read about 6 mos ago that a technique had been developed to put both formats on one disc.

That would take away the big decision on what player to buy.
