If it is bright red then some small capillaries have been ruptured. Not life threatening, but something to be monitored. It could also mean that he/she is constipated which could also rupture vessels. Severe or persistent loose stools could cuase the same problems. Monitor your cat for a day and if it is still going on then call your vet. If you cannot afford to take your cat to the vet then just ask them for suggestions. Treatment for constipation are over the counter. Our cats eat mostly dry catfood. Sometimes they get constipated and they kind of cure it themselves by eating grass, drinking more water. If they need help after about a day or so them we start giving them the liquid part out of canned food. My oldest can has frequent problems and we give him mineral oil on a regular basis, which really helps.

You should take the stool sample into the vet for diagnosis.

My cat had this problem and it was attributed to stress (she also passed a bunch of fur)... but it should be checked to rule out anything serious.

my sisters cat sometimes has that. we took her to the vet and they didn't know wht was wrong. the kitty wasn't acting any diff. like with eating and moving around and sleeping and stuff. so if your kitty's habits change then take her to the vet, but it could also be that the (sorry about the graphics here) the poopie was bigger than kitty could handle and she kinda tore a bit. good luck!

If he diarrhea with blood, he could have colitis. I would take him to the vet and if he does, they will give you antibiotics.
