Yes. The best chocolate chip cookie recipe I have ever used calls for butter-flavored Crisco, rather than butter or margarine. It makes the cookies nice and tender, really soft, instead of crispy. Plus it's easier to work with than butter. Just be careful not to overbake!! They also keep longer with crisco.

You can but it will change the texture of you cookie. Generally the Crisco will make the cookie softer than butter. Personally, I'm not a Crisco kind of gal. Anything that you can leave open just about anywhere and not another living thing will eat it...I don't think I'm eating it either.

I have done that. It makes your cookies a little bit greasier, so I would cut back about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon on the measurement if I did it again.

Fake butter tends to have a lot of water in it so it doesn't make a good substitue for real butter. Your batter will be too runny.
