Yes! You can become a cop with a criminal conviction for marijuana. Most the departments I have checked into including the one I work for will let you become a cop if it has been over five years. They are way more strict on the harder stuff. I have not smoked weed, and they didn't believe me. They kept asking me again and agian during the polygraphs I have taken. They told me that most people have tried weed and it is rare to find someone who has not. You are fine. You may have to wait, but the chances are certainly in your favor. I have worked for three departments in two different states and they all had the same thing to say about marijuana.
Good Luck

My honest answer to you:
No. Absolutely, unequivocally, NO. Regardless of you going to school to become a cop or whatever it is you are doing, your decision to use marijuana while being educated about law enforcement is very hypocritical and conflicted.
Any police agency will view this as poor judgment and immaturity, especially while in classes that may ultimately end up with you enforcing the very laws you are breaking. If you had done it in high school, or possibly college while doing something unrelated to law enforcement, and applied in about 5 years from that time that you did it, you would probably be okay. As it stands right now, you have blown it.
Sorry, dude.

You don't say what area you're from. I don't know how long this information's going to remain on your record. But, however, regarding the drug question, was there other witnesses around, who saw you ingest the drug on any occasion? I'll tell you what, don't have an instructor who you was pretty tight with in school? Why don't you schedule a private meeting with him/her regarding this and other issues you feel might be a hinderance to you getting into the police dept. Remember, you don't go around telling everyone your business okay? They'll be in a better posiion to tell you what if anything's going to help/hurt you. How's your credit situation, driving record? They look into all that too.

You're going to school to become a cop?
Is that the academy, or are you taking criminal justice in college?
Either way, you seem rather conflicted if you are smoking pot at the same time.
I think that the police department you are trying to get accepted by might view it the same way.

it depends on the time the arrest took place. Has it been more than 3 years? they will drug test you before you are allowed to proceed to training. are you clean now? if not, get a buzz cut and cleanse your system. Most of all ,don't lie , they want some one they can trust. trust is the major issue , not your past. I worked law enforcement ,and was up front with my past . Sometimes things like that pay off.

I can only assume you haven't covered the specific laws involving illegal drugs yet in your studies.
Why else would a person looking for a profession in law enforcement deliberately break the law.
And I'm sure you didn't purchase the pot from the corner market. Are you going to arrest your supplier after graduation?

I would think not if you are actually in school now because you have proven your self not able to with hold the law by breaking it. now if it had bee 10 years ago then it should not prevent you from being a cop

There are many departments that you can never work for, alot of them have strict rules of no drug arrests at all.
There will be some departments, normally smaller and lower paying departments that you may get on with.
