Well, that would be because there is a limit to how many answers we have. It's got nothing to do with 'dumbing down.'
It says in the bible: "Just as the heavens are above the earth, so are my thoughts above your thoughts, and my ways above your ways."
To an atheist critical of christianity, this verse would likely be percieved as God telling us not to try to understand him, for fear of uncovering some 'scheme,' or possible a verse inserted by the church to prevent dissension. Neither of these are true. I don't know exactly what you were debating when this 'faith card' was pulled out, but I know that many Christians (including myself) get themselves into debates trying to prove/force the gospel to someone. However, God says that he will open the hearts of those who are willing to hear his message, and then we will be there to tell people all about Jesus. Evangelism doesn't involve debating an atheist in order to prove a case. God is not in a courtroom, nor is proof required to believe something.
For example, there is actually no proof that the universe is continually expanding, yet it is widely accepted by physicists. The bible even says this is true, and many non-christians believe this.
It's a shame that such a trivial issue could win the faith of so many, while something as important as the trinity cannot.

i will merely answer those issues that i understand....i do no longer prefer to wager at issues that are so significant. Who says i do no longer question my theory? it somewhat is how I got here to have faith. as quickly as lower back, you're making assumptions. the place do you arise with recommendations that folk have faith the bible with out investigating? that's what learn is...it somewhat is investigating the claims that are being made. Ah...properly you recognize the bible tells me to no longer get into "silly quarrelling". Why debate with a individual who merely desires to argue and probably no longer hear an answer? i won't be able to make all of us have faith. All i will do is attempt to, patiently and in a friendly way, answer a query from the bible. the place else could i choose for tips approximately God or Jesus? no one is "compelled" to have faith the gospel. You the two do or you do no longer. faith won't be able to be "faked". Then it is not real faith. and that i would not be so rapid to declare hell isn't real.....merely when you consider which you won't think of there's a hell...that does no longer mean there is no longer one.

I'm sorry so many people have responded rudely to this question.
I'm sorry, but those Christians were dumb to try and debate with you.
God doesn't want us to debate or argue with people about what they believe in. We as Christians are meant to show God's love.
The problem here is we know how to get the answers, and its not from our own wisdom. God is the only one who has those answers, not science, not our inner spiritualism or whatever.
You are right in saying that we don't know the answers. We're human too, and admittedly, some of us are pretty dumb. But when you've got God, he's all you'll ever need.

so you go out of your way to corner christians to question their faith. what a little person you must be to make people doubt something they belive whole heartedly in. petty victories of an insecure person. and as for dumbing down thats not what they do they are taught to be led by faith and not by sight so you who does not embrace their beliefs, how would you be able to see if you aren't being led by faith

I would rather know why Athiest consider it a contest? Faith is not dumb or blind but is a gift from God and through faith comes revelation.
