When my dad got his twin cats, Daryl and Daryl (no kidding) it was just before Christmas. The kittens were relentlessly climbing the Christmas tree. Of course they were scolded, and didn't listen. Chances have it they were scheduled to be neutered the day after the Christmas tree arrived. Well, the cats from that point on correlated climbing the Christmas tree with being neutered. never climbed it again. Not that I think this is feasible in all situations. You may want to try squirting your kitty with a long range squirt gun (so that it can't see that it's you doing it). That way the cat will think *anytime* it climbs the tree it will be attacked by water. Good luck.

Spray the tree with a product especially made for animals curious about things they should not get into. It does not have a smell, so you can still smell the pine scent. But the cat will detect the "off the tree, buddy" scent. I don't know the name of the product so I won't mislead you but, you can purchase it at any large pet store. Good Luck!

My cat does the same thing. You could surround the tree with tinfoil(aluminum foil), or put it up the tree. Cats HATE the sound and feeling of tinfoil, it dives them nuts. (It also works on furniture.) Anyways, you could put it around the tree, or shake the tinfoil at your cat when it goes near the tree. It worked for me, it stopped my cat from terrorizing my fish. Also, try to NOT put tinsel on the tree, that is really bad for cats. If they eat it, it could choke them or barf up their food from eating it. Good luck, hope it works!

I spray my cat with a spray bottle filled with water. It only took a couple of times getting hit with the water for him to learn notto climb the tree.

Lemons.

Cats hate lemons with a passion. Squeeze lemons on or near your tree.
