yes so many people trying to kick God out of our country it used to be in God we trust now they are saying Gods not welcome here and then when things like Katrina happen they want to know why God didn't help them or why did He let it Happen well if we were to keep it one nation under God then God would continue to bless us but i see our country turning into Sodom and Gomorrah and i don't like it but i am only one man people need to defend our Lord God as He defends us

Actually, the reason for the season was originally the Sun God.
Called by many names, the sun god was born of the goddess on the winter solstice.
In the 300s C.E. the Christian Church realized that in order to gain followers, they needed to rival this massive celebration by the Pagans, who were in the majority at the time.
To keep the theme, and thus avoid persecution, they decided to make it a celebration of the birth of THEIR god: Jesus. They also celebrated in similar ways: decorating with the colors red and green, hanging mistletoe, decorating evergreen trees with trinkets and candles, singing songs, burning a log in honor of their god, etc. Then also they gave it a new name to fit the meaning of this new celebration: Christmas, meaning "Christ's Mass."
I agree! Let's bring back the REAL reason for the season! Let us shout in joy our love for the birth of Ra, Mithra, Hors, and all the others!
Blessed Yule, everyone!

Because the world is more concerned with being politically correct than keeping the 80% of Americans who call themselves Christians happy. If all of us Christians don't shop at the stores who don't celebrate our holiday...Christmas...then they will change their attitude. Like Walmart did this year. They are back to Jesus being the reason for the season. I even heard O Little Town of Bethlehem being played over the intercom the other day. Cool!

Because everybody is getting so dang paranoid about trying to be "politically correct". They're afraid if they say "Merry Christmas" etc, SOMEBODY MIGHT get offended. I say bump that. Without Christ there would BE no Christmas, nor anything else. I think everyone who hears "Happy Holidays" should look directly at the person who said it and say "Merry Christmas!" with the sweetest smile they can muster. I'm sure doing what I can to bring Christ back into Christmas in my little corner of the world.

Because contrary to what many Christians want to believe, theirs is not the ONLY holiday at this time of year, nor is theirs THE MOST IMPORTANT holiday at this time of year.
Jesus may be YOUR reason for the season, but he isn't the ONLY reason for the season.
Say "Merry Christmas" if you want. But don't get your nose out of joint if I reply "Have a blessed Solstice..."

The "Reason for the Season" is only Jesus for Christians. For pagans, it's Yule. For Jewish people, it's Hanukkah. For Humanists, it's HumanLight. As there are lots of holidays, it makes sense to say the general word instead of choosing one group as more important.

In the world we currently live in, it's easy for the rest of the non-believers to forget about keeping Christ in Christmas.

I agree. We are being so careful not to insult or hurt anyones feelings, that we are taking the meaning out of Christmas. I wear a pin from church that says "Please Wish Me a Merry Christmas". I say, if you wish someone a Merry Christmas and they are insulted, then they were looking for something to be insulted about.

Because politicians are making america an atheist country, and, as to not insult those that don't believe, strip our freedom of religion. Merry Christmas
