Mostly because the pronunciation of these words is the same, and more because theys havent been careful in their schooling years in understanding the correct spelling and meaning of different words. One also needs to have an interest to learn to spell words correctly.

Same reason Time Warner Cable offers "complimentary" free movies on demand. Every time I see the screen I cringe.
You'd think one of the 1,000 people who preview their content would know it's "complementary".

It`s odd how our minds work. Well, "lose" kinda look like "lows", so people don`t even think of that. "Loose" kinda looks like "lose", so people put that down instead. You`re a great speller.

They don't have any more brain cells to lose?
Their spelling teacher was loose with her grading?
They lose their train of thought (smoking too much pot can do that)?
