This is a question for jewish people mainly. According to the tora and the old testiment, The jews are Gods chosen people and everyone else is a gentile. Is it just me or does that infer that gentiles are less of a worthy being. If so what is the Jewish thinking, attitude to non jews. I always wondered?

Christianity and Islam do not have any teaching that states that their members are Gods chosen people.

Jewish girl.. The other religions do not state that you must convert to their religions to be saved. The poin is Judaism is the only one that explicitly segrigates jews from non jews and states that jews are Gods chosen people. Sorry, but no other religion makes this claim.

Oh so in judaism does that mean a gentile can go to heaven?

OK let me make this simple to understand. I know because Ive studied christianity and islam that in both religions all peoples are seen as equal by god. This is a fact of the teachings. I do not state that this is what the followers stick to but this is the teachings. Judasim does not hold this core belief.

In the Jewish view, all people (Jews and Gentiles) are on equal footing, both have free choice to do good or evil, and both have equal access to God.

The Torah outlines 7 universal laws for both Jews and Gentiles to follow, called the Noahide Covenant.

first off According to Islam if you are Christian you are doomed to hell while according to Christianity if you are a Muslim you are also doomed to hell.

so I dont know how you can call that equality. In both religions you have the believers and the damned infidels

according to Judaism both good Christians and good Muslims as well as basically anyone else that is a good person will easily make it to heaven.

That is why Jews to not seek converts.

as for the chosen part

Exodus 19:6
you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites."

that is exactly what it means. Jews are not any better than anyone else they just have a special job in that they are the nation of G-d and his representatives on earth.

this might explain things better

be thankful. it means you can eat a cheeseburger and G-d will still love you. jews can't.

"Christianity and Islam do not have any teaching that states that their members are Gods chosen people."

lol, they don't? last i checked, christians and muslims both have some whacky belief that G-d sends innocent people who don't believe in their religion to hell. certainly sounds to ME like they think they are the chosen people.

EDIT

on the contrary, judaism sees people in a far more equal manner than both christianity and islam. christians believe that jesus is "the way, the truth, and the light" and that all people who don't believe he is G-d are off to be burnt in eternal hell. depending on the muslim, jews and christians may or may not be burning in hell, but in all cases everybody who is not a muslim, christian, or jew becomes satan's toast. you may consider this to be a doctrine of human equality but i tend to see it a bit more critically. in judaism, G-d loves all people regardless of their religion, and jews and gentiles all have the exact same afterlife.

as for the chosen people, it means that G-d chose a group of people to follow his laws and therefore to be an example and a testament to G-d. it doesn't mean that non-jews are lesser. it means that they are not obligated to follow the laws of moses, whereas jews are. if you want to interpret it to mean that jews are better than other people or more special, fine, but thats not what judaism says.
