This guy asked me to a dance. But, I'm not sure if he wants to get romantically involved too. We talk a lot. And e-mail a lot. And, I told him he could back out if he wanted and he said that's not an option. And, I asked him why me and not some prettier girl who goes to our school...I'm average looking, and he came up with a paragraph of reasons. Do u think he wants more that just to go to a dance?

It looks like you're on a roll. :)
Why not be brave, go see what it all leads to with an open mind and an open heart? Guys sometimes date the average girls coz they have more substance than the super pretty ones.
I think you are still young and you have plenty of time to grow up into a more beautiful person than how you view yourself. Genetics and bone structures rule that the human skull and bones grow till you become an adult.. and if the girls are pretty now, imagine would they still be pretty when their features are stretched as their bones grow? The average looking girls have the blessing of having everything set into place at a later stage in life..
Ask your dad or mom. you will always hear them adults say that wow.. I haven't seen so and so for 10 years and my god she's a beauty now.. and geez what happened to that pretty one.. She's not so pretty anymore is she.. you know ugly duckling syndrome..
Be confident.. You've got a guy who appreciates u the way you are now, with a paragraph full of reasons. Give him a chance.. give yourself a chance.. ;) to step into the wonderful world of the unknown. Its an adventure. Live it!

Take it one step at a time. Go to the dance and see how that goes. Don't be needy and chase him. You will just run him away. You're already talking to him and exchanging e-mails. That's a good start. You will do better in the long run if you take it real slow and let him take the lead in where this is going. If you act like a needy Nellie, you'll end up a lonely Lola.

It sounds to me like this guy really likes you for your personality, a guy can always find an easy... you know what.
Usually a school dance is the event where you invite someone really special.
Go and enjoy each other

Wow. That is great! Any dance with a man that I or if he chooses to dance with me is not just a dance. It is the dance. Long or short term doesn't matter..It is beautiful because we are. I would never miss the dance. Have fun. His affection for you is great.

Sounds like it to me. Also sounds like something I might do for a girl I'd like to start dating. Have fun with the dance and don't worry about it too awfully much. If something comes of it, congratulations.

Probably. Wait and see how the dance goes. And don't talk yourself down, he obviously thinks you ARE the prettiest girl.

It sounds like he really likes you, but dont ruin it with that low self esteem thing. Dont put yourself down in front of anyone for any reason. That's not cute, or attractive. Be confident and happy and fun. That's what he'll like!
