There are so many theories involved.
Start with the big one -- gravity. We know gravity exists, but we are clueless how it actually WORKS. The best we have is Einstein's General Theory of Relativity but we know it's fatally flawed -- it cannot be reconciled with quantum gravity.
Stellar theory -- kinda hinges on gravity, but we need a quantum version to explain the COBE data.
Planetary theory -- hinges on a better understanding of gravity.
Inflaton theory -- the first time quantum physics will allow an infinity? It's the first time it's been a consistant and logical answer but we'll see how it plays out!
