Christmas eve:
We watch TÅi oÅÃÅ¡ky pro Popelku(Three Gifts for Cinderella) a Czech movie that goes on the television in norway every christmas. Also the disney's christmas cards and the norwegian FlÃ¥klypa. We also start the day with opening just one present(saving the later for last). The dinner is cooking, and meanwhile we go to the graveyard to put down flowers on the graves of our lost loved ones. When I was a kid we went to church, I'm thinking of going this year, though I'm no christian believer, I like the tradition and it gives me the holidayspirit. If there's snow, we make snowlights and goof around. If I'm celebrating with my dad we also set out portridge to the "tomtenisse", since my dad lives close to a barn. When I had a horse, we used to go horsesledding, that's beautiful when it snows. Before dinner we drink hot chocolate, sit infront of the fireplace and just talk about everything we did when we where kids(This is often the only time whole of the family is gathered), so we look at pictures and homevids. Than it's dinner, and after that we gather again. We may play a game or such, and later we open the gifts.
Christmas Day:
Here we usually go to the other parent(the one we didn't celebrate christmas with), and it is mainly most of the same again.
(In Norway we, not everyone, but the one's I know, set up the three 23th open gifts on the 24th and meet with other familymembers on the 25th)

Well we have a Christmas tradition not to put the tree up until the 12th of December, because that's when my father's baby sister passed away.
On Christmas Eve we spend the day taking turns wrapping gifts. (We're only a 3 person family so I go wrap with my mom and then my dad) And that night we eat chili dogs (weird I know but we don't like any of the other holiday dishes) then we dress up and go to the Candle Light service at our church. After, we drive around our town and look at all the Christmas Lights people have up and listen to Christmas music, laughing the entire time.
Christmas Day we get up, whenever we wake up, and go into the living room and I sit on the floor by the tree and hand my parents their gifts. After gifts we usually start to make the special dinner, party mix, cookies, we always have or we break off to play put away/play with our Christmas gifts.

My husband and two boys, 3 and 8 have always had a nice dinner, sometimes go to our families house for dinner, and after dinner we clean up and maybe watch a Christmas special. Then we get in our P.Js and we let the boys open one of there presents. ( a small one) sit around the Christmas tree on big pillows and snuggled under blankets while my very attractive husband reads The Night Before Christmas. The boys play with their toy and we put in a nice Christmas CD and it makes Christmas so special. The kids will always remember doing that on christmas eve and maybe they will pass it on to their families.
