1. Killing off half of the world's population and keeping the earth healthy
2. Letting the population tripple and not having an earth for your grandchildren's generation

I wouldn't go so far as to say we ought to kill of half of the world's population... although I suppose setting a one-child limit or giving tax breaks for voluntary sterilization wouldn't be too bad, if a bit extreme.
