I'm a girl too, and I told my girl friend that I was gonna start doing some photo shoots with a freelance photographer and possibly starting a modeling portfolio. I told her this because I knew she was interested in photography and cameras. She immediately became very cold toward me and refused to talk about it, and said things like "I see" and "hm"... and warned me about sketchy photographers, even though I already told her it was just conservative portraiture... Please explain and give suggestions. We're usually very good together.

The word of the day is "jealousy". You have jumped in on some of her interests and she may feel left out. The only thing you can do is to try to include her, and she may not even want to. It really comes down to her getting over her petty jealousy. Sadly, she may not get over it before your friendship is dissolved. Best of luck to you.

Perhaps she is envious that you're going to be doing something she would like to do. At any rate, this may have caused a rift in your friendship and if so, there's not much you can do about that. A real friend would have been excited for you.

She might be jealous. Or she might think you are not taking her warnings seriously. Have you checked this photographer with the local better business bureau, and cops etc?

Maybe she is jealous and thinks you are bragging.
Girls are very odd creatures...their moods change in seconds and they change the rules just as quick.
Confront her about it (nicely). Say you are worried and don't want to lose her friendship.

she's probably concerned that the photographer might ask you to do some "inappropriate" and "uncomfortable" poses... talk to her and ask her to come with you for a while to see how everything goes and promise her that if anything goes wrong, you'll tell her about it...

She's doing this because she wants to take your picture......naked (maybe). She's probably just not forward enough to come out and ask. It would be like inviting yourself to a party......a party where your hot girlfriend is taking off all of her clothes and striking sexy poses.

she's just jealous... give her time and space for a bit and try to explain to her that you don't mean to make her jealous of what you are doing... :)
