I am a film student.
What do you think is the best way to approach a Church If you would like to film inside?
How would you go about it........ What could you do if you've contacted all sources and are not successfull?

I assume you want to use the church for a location.

You should be up front about what your film is about. Show the appropriate people your script. If their objection is to some part of the script then decide if you can change it. Otherwise look for another church.

You might offer to do a second project for the church such as a documentary about it that they could use for their own purposes. Maybe they would like to have a film of their Christmas pageant or a choir performance.

If you just need some backgrounds maybe they would let you take some stills. Then you could shoot your scenes in front of a green screen and composite the stills into the movie.

There are lots of churches that do the filming themselves, and televise it, if you just need footage. You will be given strange looks if you bring your camera and film an ordinary Mass or service, but there's certainly no rules against it that I know of. If you want to film a special event, though, I don't think anyone will care.

Do tell.

I'd sure like to know since I produce short Indie films and shoot certain docus and travelogues for TV content.

Could you kindly email me [rbexpat@yahoo.com] on how to effectively go about it, please? Thanks!

Peace be with you.
