Drink ALOT of water and juice to flush out the nicotine. Bottled water helps because you have to unscrew it, it keeps your hands busy. Start going for short walks to release tension. Give yourself time-outs when you need it for the first couple of weeks.

You can do it!!! I quit on Dec 17, 2005 I've been almost a year smoke free!!! =0)

This is a great site that helped me quit. I loved it. Definetly check it out! Also....I used a fake cigg the first week to help. (A real cig that I taped with scotch tape and painted the tip red.) It really helped me cuz I could drag on it....and finally got tired of the fake cig and threw it away. I did end up addicted to twizzlers and then had to give those up too! Go outdoors and do standing, slow stretches. Create a mantra, or harmonic saying that you say over and over at times of temptation during withdrawal. For example, someone using a mantra tool for coping with severe pain might simply repeat , "strength . . . (stretch) . . . honor . . .(stretch) . . . balance . . . (stretch)." Repeat. Mantra and stretching really helps at that pivotal moment when the temptation is over-riding. Say the mantra to the Child in you, so speak gently, softly, encouragingly.

Try something tedius.

Try learning a new language.
Knitting/crocheting.
A large puzzle (My friend did one that was over 10,000 pieces whe she was trying to quit smoking)
Chew gum
Dancing
Riding a bike (Will help stimulate your lungs as well)
Paint
Draw


I've heard that oral stimulation will help your brain think it's smoking. Try sucking on straws that're similarly colored to your cigarettes, twizzlers, or perhaps some other hollow candy.

Buy a bag of loliipops(there jsut $1) or chewing gum..... (any favorites) i prefer lolipops last long flavor lasts. keep you occupied and you jsut can go about what you do normally,,,,,
