My computer has started just getting to the loading and then restarting, over and over. My only option right now is destructive recovery, and I really do not want to lose my files on the hard disk. Boot CD? How could I go about saving these?

Yup. Boot CD is easiest if you got one.
If it is a hdd failure.
Knoppix should be up everybody's sleeve for that.
Hopefully you have another hdd that you can copy the failing hdd contents to.
You should also be aware that every time a failing hdd boots, more data is likely lost.
If you got good stuff on that failing hdd, take it out till you get a backup drive.
And good luck. Lost data is not cool.

try "holding" the power reset button in for longer than usual, (about 5 to 10 seconds).
