Drinking diet soda pop with every meal everyday or, having an assortment of drinks during the week but getting sloppy drunk every weekend?

The reason I ask is this:
I drink ( or used to) a lot .. maybe 7-8 cans of diet pop a day, I know now that it is far worse for the body that I had imagined. so i've slowly started to cut back, a co worker of mine said the damage has been done, and that soda is far worse that booze. she said that If I want to drink soda I should binge on the weekends like she does with booze.

diet soda is good in that it contains no calories. however, diet soda does contain sodium, and some contain cafeinne. cafeinne does not help quench your thirst so it isnt the best choice of beverage. however, an assortment of drinks could mean anything, most fruit juices and sodas have added sugars which add to empty calories, and alcohol, especially alcohol from hops and barley (beer) has an extremely high calorie count. basically if you are going to get really drunk on the weekend you are going to have to cut down on other high calorie foods and drinks to avoid weight gain, and alcohol in excess isnt exactly good for much of your body, especially the immune system. to help offset this, eating right and having a nutrition rich diet will avoid allowing getting sloppy to be the thing that puts you over the edge. Im writing this with the pretense that you arent going to give up drinking though.

Binge drinking is very bad and puts a huge strain on the liver, and also causes liver damage.

The fizzy drinks industry likes to keep it quiet that most fizzy drinks, with sugar or not, have phosphoric acid in them and this leaches calcium from your bones ultimately causing osteoporosis!

Drink water. Besides, it will save you a lot of money if you stay away from the unhealthy options, or have them only once in a while.

i don't think either is good or better than the other. The soda drinks have a lot of suger in them so will rot your teeth and binge drinking destroys the liver. All things should be done in moderation.

Complete nonsense - binge drinking is very bad for you, but soda binges - what harm can soda be doing you other than your teeth possibly. Certain sweeteners have a dodgey reputation - but alcohol is a killer not soda.

Moderation is the key. But I would say binging with alcohol is worse. Definitely try to drink more water! It'll save you. :D

both is bad, but alcohol is much worse. . . if you want to lose weight try this

i have been giving this information out a lot today!

make sure you are really dedicated, ask a friend who you know wants to lose a little, it is easier to lose weight when you have a friend with you. . .

also make sure you eat breakfast!
some good breakfast ideas are
-fruit and cereal
-protein shakes
-smoothies and fruit
-granola bars and fruit
-oatmeal and fruit
-eggs(try not to use butter or oil use water to "grease" the pan)
-veggie omlet

***make sure you eat breakfast within an hour of waking up, and make sure portion sizes are small enough to keep you full for a couple of hours

mid morning snack- make sure you have a small snack within 2-3 hours after breakfast some ideas. . .
-a piece of fruit
-carrots,celeray with lowfat dip about 2tblsp
-nuts
-smoothie
*****this should be light just to hold you over until lunch*****

lunch should be within 2-3 hrs after mid morning snack
remember to keep it light and not heavy.
-turkey on wheat with lowfat mayo and lettuce and tomatos + a piece of fruit or vegetable + granola bar + snack sized bag of baked chips
-soup + salad, with low fat dressing + breadsticks

*make sure portion sizes are decent, no overdoing it*

mid-day snack is usually 2-3hrs after lunch
-vegetables with lowfat dip
-nuts
-fruit with lowfat yogurt
-cup of yogurt
-jello
-smoothie
-snack size bag of chips that are baked or pretzels

supper is 2-3 hrs after you eat your mid day snack
-chicken (3-4oz) and pasta (3-4oz) with reduce sodium tomato sauce
-soup + salad lowfat dressing + breadsticks
-meat (3-4oz) + pasta or rice or potatos + fruit or vegetables

**********PORTION SIZES ARE KEY***************
it is also better to eat 5 times a day then to skip a meal, if you skip a meal the food you eat next stays on your body as fat, so keep eating 5 times a day that way your metabolism is always going.

good luck

also try cutting back on soda/pop if you drink alot of that and sugar, try not to eat any of that because it just adds empty calories

also make sure you excersie at least 30 minutes a day and walk as much as possible
