It is usually best to take it twice, once at the end of grade 10 and once at the beggining at grade 11.

Typically, people take the PSAT in 10th grade and again in 11th. The 11th grade scores are the measure used for the National Merit Scholarship program.

Often, students will take the SAT in Jan or Mar or June of their junior year. It depends on a few things, like when do you think you'll be "ready?" Jan might be too early in the year, you won't have your PSAT results for long at that point (ie in case you need to focus on some aspect of the test...) March might be good. June might find you working on finals and SAT Subject Tests, so it might be too high-pressure a time.

Yes, you can take the test multiple times...but I believe the scores ALL go to the schools now...I don't think you can pick and choose which to send. Schools will "use" the highest to go on. You should check on that at collegeboard.com or with your high school college counselor.

If you're applying early decision, you won't want your SATs spilling over too far into your senior year, as those due dates are typically at the beginning-to-mid-November.

Ideal to focus on one or two dates, prepare for the exams, and hopefully you'll get some results you can work with!

Good luck to you!

you can take it as many times as you want, so try one anytime. If you don't score as high as you would like, study and take it again. Colleges automatically keep your highest score. But you should probably take it by spring of 11th grade in order to have time to get it to all the schools you want.

take your psats either in 10th grade or the beginning 11th. and if you take the psats in 10th grade, then take your sats at the beginning of your 11th grade because if you don't like your scores you can have an opportunity to retake them, and you have more chances at it.

10th grade: take the pre SAT to practice and understand how it is
11th grade: take the real SAT
12th grade: retake the SAT

choose your highest score (11th or 12th) :]]

To know how much stuff you have learned and remembered about your past lessons and to know how sharp your brain is 'AND' to know what course suits you in you plan to go to collage.
