An objective point of view living in a civilised society the relevance of two people beating each other to a pulp does not make any sense. It glorifies violence and on a medical level creates a wealth of health and mental problems due to sustained physical abuse.

It places the two fighters in harms way and lets face it, any work place that would condone it would be fined by Occupation Health and Safety Act. It seems to be a flashback to every other civilisation that glorified this specific entertainment and bayed for blood.

Yes I do love boxing, but as I say it doesn't make sense. It could also be that we are not quite there when we talk about living in a civilised society and we have to reevaluate our values.

uhhmm... to the other poster, Ali has parkinson's, not alzheimers as far as I know. Same with Marty McFly.

But boxing should be banned to give way to Muay Thai, MMA, UFC and Roaman Gladiatorial battles, all in all they're better products.

Rockergirl, what makes you think boxing caused Ali's Alzheimers Disease?
Michael J. Fox, a well known actor suffers from Alzheimers disease, was he a fighter no?
