A covenant is in a sense a contract, however, a covenant can never be broken or changed. Even if one side completely violates it, the other side is still obligated to continue to complete their side in good faith that the other side might eventually return to fulfilling the agreement.
When Christians say that the Old Testament's Covenant has passed away, they are accusing God of having broken a covenant. God promised that the Covenant was ETERNAL, and even Jesus said not one letter of the law would pass until all was fulfilled, and Christians are still waiting for the 'second' coming (it will be the third, actually, else what do they call the period from resurrection to ascension, considering Jesus promised his disciples they would live to see his second coming?) to finish the messianic prophecies.

A covenant is a contract between two persons where each agrees to do something in return for something from the other one.
Under the old covenant of Moses the people promised to follow all of God;s commands in return for his blessing and protection and then proceeded to make the golden calf to worship breaking the covenant they had agreed to with God.
Under the new covenant Jesus promises to give you eternal life. All you have to do is believe. A lot better deal for you but a pretty bad one for him unless as a result of your gratitude and love for him you do everything you can to not make him look bad and help others believe.

The deal. Wages of the sin was death, but we are under new covenant since Jesus died for us. No need to sacrifice animals etc. We would not make it to heaven by law. There were a lot of restrictions about the clothing, food etc. in the Old Testament, Jesus freed us from those deals. We get to go to heaven only through Him. He is the truth and the way and the life. That is the new covenant.

The Ark of the Covenant isn't like the ark of the flood. The Ark replaced into built of acacia timber and replaced into 3 3/4 lengthy by 2 a million/2 intense. It replaced into plated with organic gold interior and out.you are able to study extra in Exodus 25:10. It holds the ten Commandments to good away between some different issues. it truly is exciting to analyze.

It means a promise between me and God. For example, for me, baptism was a covenant. I promised to keep the commandments (repent when I mess up) and comfort those that need comfort etc, and God promises to help me do that by giving me the gift of the Holy Ghost and supporting me in all my trials.
I have made other covenants in the temple, and it is a word I take very seriously and joyfully.
For more of your research, look up things like "the Abrahamic Covenant" it's very interesting.
Thanks

Perhaps you can read about the COVENANT's made in both the NT and the OT?
Who made a COVENANT with Who?
What took place in the COVENANT?
Where did the COVENANT Takes Place?
IF I can get YOUR GRADE, I will do the work for YOU, = = BUT = = I think that the COVENANT ASSIGNMENT = IS BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR TEACHER? ? ?
See how the COVENANT WORKS?
Thanks, RR
