When I started it at 30 mg, my appetite was very much suppressed for about a week and a half then came back. When I went to 60 mg the same thing happened. Now I have added Trazodone to my mix to help me sleep at night (at 30 mg of Cymbalta I slept too much; at 60 mg I have insomnia). With Trazodone, my appetite is pretty much non-existent. Even the thought of food or looking at food is not pleasant most of the time. Before taking Cymbalta or Trazodone I had a raging appetite cause I work out regularly. I never really had a problem with nausea like a lot of people. Also, this has been a wonder drug for me. I am quite happy now (I have been taking Cymbalta a month and a half now). With the addition of Trazodone now (a tetracyclic SSRI), my happiness and contentment is even more increased. Before starting Cymbalta I was morose and subdued, very down, very dark thoughts (suicidal, paranoid thougths). I feel great now. I must say I have discovered that people have quite different reactions to Cymbalta. You just have to discover if it's right for you. Is your appetite suppressed? Is that a good or bad thing. Any nausea?

I lost 15 pounds on this medication. I have been off it for a couple of weeks. I had very bad side effects from it, it made me more depressed than I ever was and I was suicidal. What saved me was knowing that it was from the meds and my doc took me off of them but if you start to feel a lot worse please call your doctor right away. I am not saying that this will happen to you, everyone is different and meds effect me a lot differently then they do a lot of people. But just be very in tune with what's going on and keep your doc informed of any changes. If you are worried about the appetite suppression then make yourself a lot of smoothies with fruit, fruit juice and yogurt.

I'm taking it for migraines. Been on it about 1 month and am happy. For the first 2 weeks, I did have a disinterest in food and felt like gagging on some things. This has mostly gone away. I now am concerned with feeling a bit too hyper. Feel great otherwise.

Everyone's body chemistry is different. If after a month of this side effect still bothering you, I would suggest calling your doctor.

When I looked up Cymbalta and its side effects, decreased appetite was one of the side effects of this medication. You can look up information on any medication that you are taking on:
www.WebMD.com This will give you information on what the medication is used to treat, how it works, and the possible side effects. You can also talk to your doctor about any side effects if you are worried about any that you are experiencing. Good Luck and Have a Happy and Healthy Holidays!!
