While playing with a toy (a stick thing with feathers at the end) my cat did a sideways leap right into my bench. He hit it pretty hard and right in the shoulder.

But he just got right back up and went after the toy again.

He wouldn't be interested in playing anymore if he had hurt himself, right? Should we take it easy for a little bit?

-Note - he had tons of open space to run and jump, he just kind of jump just and fling himself sideways. Kind of went in totally the wrong direction.-

Our youngest does that too, extremely resilient animals. Ours has the habit of not ducking far enough to run under the bed, and headbutting the frame. He looks dazed for a minute, then rolls on. The older one just looks at him like he's nuts.....its a hoot! But yeah, he's fine.....if he starts to limp keep an eye on him.

If he jumped right back up to play, then he's probably fine. I accidently (I swear!) kicked my cat in the head once (really really hard) and then freaked out and brought her straight to the vet. But, she was fine. No concussion or anything. Cats are pretty tough little buggers.

I'd just keep an eye on him for a couple of days, maybe try rubbing his shoulder every now and then to see if he's being sensitive toward it. If it starts to bother him, you may as well play it safe and take him to the vet.

Keep an eye on him and ease up on the playing a bit. But your cat is probably fine: I used to have a cat who would run into things all the time, and he would just get right on up and keep going.

I have had a cat for years...I'm sure he is fine. One of the things to look for tomorrow is if he isn't playing like he is today.Or not eating either. Then u know he has hurt herself. Most likely he is fine. One time I had a flash light and I put the light up on the wall close to the ceiling.Oh ya she jump straight for it.Hit that wall and came skreching down. All u could hear was her nails in the wall. She was fine and then we laughed our a s s off. But I never did that again...They are alot of fun so enjoy him.

Cat are very agile, remember they have nine lives and
I can vouch for that, a dog chased my cat up 4 flights of
stairs, the cat jumped out the window and kept going,
the dog walked back down the stairs. I also have a
cat that jumps straight up in the air when i sneak up on
her. Don't worry hes fine, cats are a hoot.

He is probably fine and if you are still concerned I would bring him to the vet just to make sure in a day or so for a check up and so that the vet can give him the a ok to play again. And I would also watch closely to make sure that he doesnt hurt himself again.

If he's not limping or giving up on the toy then he's fine. Cats do things like this to themselves all the time. They love to fly through the air chasing after things and many times don't notice what's around and don't care. Don't worry about him. :)

Since he bounced right back and went after toy again, its likely he's fine. The cats think fur tends to act like a shock absorber. If he becomes lethargic and feverish later on, then you need to get him to a vet for x-ray. But seriously, I think your kitty is fine.

He seems to be fine since he continued playing with the toy. Cats love to be silly and sometimes do run into things.

Best wishes.

Cats are pretty tough. As long as he got right back up and isn't limping, he'll probably be fine. Just take it easy until you're sure.
