You got it wrong Monkeys evolved from us.

They are the next step on the evolutionary ladder.

We are just so dumb and arrogant that we think that we are the highly evolved ones.

Love and blessings Don

You are suffering from a misunderstanding of evolution. It's easy to understand why you have that misunderstanding, because so many creationists have made so much effort to propagate that misunderstanding.

Let me illustrate your misunderstanding by asking a similar question:
If there are tall people, why are there still short people?

You see, it's a common misunderstanding that scientists think that evolution somehow takes place simultaneously across an entire species. As soon as one member of the species evolves, then either all other members of that species evolves right away, or that in the next generation only the new species will be born. That is nonsense. A beneficial adaptation might result in a new species that will gradually display the previous species, causing the previous species to go extinct. But that is not required. It may turn out that the adaptation just makes the new species better able to survive in a different environment. For example, our primate ancestor species may have been adapted to live in jungles, but the new hominid species was better adapted to live in the open savannas. The primates and the hominids lived in different environments, so they didn't compete with each other, so both survived.

I am not a christian and I agree with you, I watch this program on the history channel, they said we were "A type Monkey" and "B type monkey" taught A type how to use a rock to open a nut for food. Well I thought about it for a while and said I will believe the god story or an alien theory before I believe that stuff, Then again they say we all come from Africa, but that's stupid too when you think about it
I must admit the big bang & evolution stuff is just unbelieveable. That is saying we are just animals that can build with no meaning at all, I just can not & will not buy that. I know we are hear for a reason but we just don't understand it all.

Monkeys and humans had common ancestor. We did not evolve directly from them. And why did only we evolved, that is a tricky question.Because that was meant to be.Evolution is a tricky business. Some things happened to us that did not happened to them. And if you are a church person,I am.There is reasonable explanation for that, difference between Bible and Theory of Evolution.Chatolic Church acknowledges that theory.Look, how could you explain to people that lived when the Bible was written about first amino-acids and cells. So the Bible simplified things. But if you compare Evolution and Bible, you will see that the events happen in the same line.Only in Theory of Evolution, you have many details, because the knowledge of that time was much bigger. It is actually front and back of the same coin.

I can't believe there are still people around who are stupid enough not only to ASK this, but to think it's a clever question (you DO think you're clever, don't you bubblehead?)

Anyway, here's the right answer:

Evolution only occurs when a population is under pressure to adapt. Populations under no threat to their existence have no need to change. Sharks and crocodiles have remained unchanged for more than 200 million years. An ape populations finding itself in competition for resources had two options: adapt or die. In most cases these choices faced by any organism will result in the second outcome, and species will become extinct. It is possible that the first will occur though, and the members of that population will deviate from the original. Over time it becomes a different species. Populations elsewhere facing no pressure will not change. They will remain apes, while we evolved into humans.

Obviously you don't really want to know all this, so choose someone who agrees with you.

It's a silly question. No evolutionary biologist thinks we came from monkeys. According to the theory of evolution, the monkeys, apes and hominids share a common ancestor that lived around 25 million years ago.

Please, I beg of you, learn about the theory of evolution before you dismiss it. Pick up Evolution: The Triumph of an Idea by Carl Zimmer or The Ancestor's Tale by Richard Dawkins. At least then you can ask well-informed questions as opposed to repeating this constant drivel.

I can't understand how this can still happen. Evolution isn't a "belief." It's scientific fact, vastly researched, and it's supported by pretty much anyone with half a brain. To say that you don't believe in evolution is like saying you don't believe in gravity, or that all those dinosaurs we keep digging up are just a hoax. Even scientists who believe in a god support evolution (they basically just make up whatever they have to, such as god being the one who prompted evolution, to maintain their faith in religion).

And evolution doesn't say that we evolved from monkeys. It says that we share a common ancestor with them. We even sort of look alike, the way you'd vaguely resemble a distant relative.

There are still monkeys because they haven't evolved. There is really no concrete evidence that anything has. I believe living organisms can evolve, or better adapt to their environments, within their species (a monkey can become a different sort of monkey) but do not evolve out of their species into another one (a monkey doesn't become a horse or any other entirely different mammal). Evolutionists try to get around your point by claiming that evolution takes a very long time, and we're not around long enough to see it (simply put). In other words, "believe us cuz we say so." That's not science. Science gathers physical evidence and tests it and draws conclusions. Evolution is not really even good theory, science fiction fantasy perhaps.

Evolution would not say that guy developed style ape. It does say that guy and ape developed from a basic ancestor. the usual ancestor could look greater ape-like than human-like. distinctive branches of primates had distinctive evolutionary pressures. while a species unearths a nitche the place that's easily adapted there is way less stress to alter. Sharks and cockroaches have replaced little for hundreds of thousands of years because of the fact they are so properly adapted for survival. Many different species have come and long gone in the tenure of the shark and cockroach. in case you have been knowledgeable or perhaps studied the subject beforehand you asked the stupid question, you're able to understand that.

I'm not answering your question because I don't believe in evolution. I just wanted to say don't listen to those guys that are being rude and insulting. I see that they all are getting mad at you and haven't really answered the question. They all were quick to correct you, but didn't give much of an in depth answer. They can't explain it and neither can scientists. There are even scientists that believe in creation so all scientists are not even on the same page. I suggest you talk to a pastor or go to www.equip.org and send the question to Hank Hanagraff. He is a very intelligent man and answers many complex questions on all sorts of subjects. Good luck and God bless.

Because we didn't. The theory of evolution was created based on very poor evidence, people just don't to admit that. Too many assumptions are made for it to be considered even a reasonable theory. And also, just because we look similar they assume that we must share a common ancestor. We have a lot of similarities to a lot of other species as well. And Darwin's theory of evolution is no longer considered reliable because it was rigged. A lot of the finches weren't even native residents of the island he experimented on. Doesn't anybody know that?
