I'm wondering if my cat is just sick or dieing. She is refusing to eat, but when she does, she eats the dogfood. She's never eaten dogfood before! And she's getting too weak to get upstairs to use her litter box, but she can't hold her bladder anymore, either. She's loosing her fur, and is hiding more than ever. My sister kicked her out of the house (not literally), and now I'm worried she might get run over. I'm so worried! Can anyone tell me what to do? She may not really like me, but I love her to death! She's only 8 years old, but I can't stand the thought for her to die.

First, get the cat to a vet. Be sure to tell the vet about the situation with your sister not letting the cat in the house. Let the vet decide what to do best to take care of that cat.
Second, report your sister to the ASPCA on a charge of animal cruelty. There's absolutely no excuse for her selfish, cruel behavior.

Ok, I have a 20 year old cat- (buddy)
He got sick like that, loosing hair on his back, and throwing up after he would eat, he was soooooooooooo skinny, I just knew he was gonna die, also he was wetting on the floor, and poo too, so this is what I did.
I got my Rottweilers crate, (very large-2 dogs can use it) I put my cat bed in there, a small kitty box, and I got me a bag of Meow Mix for Kittens (pink bag) I boil hot water, and put it in a bowl and sit about 15 mins, to make it soft, because Buddy has NO teeth!
and I feed him that 2 times a day... and he is doing so much better, he has gained his weight back, he looks healthier, and is going to the cat box now.
I do take him out for love, and such, but the crate thing and kitty food is the best thing I could have done for him.
The can food has something in it that was making him gag/throw up.
try this, and I wish you good luck.

Have you taken her to the vet? Or not? I had a cat a few years ago with that similar problem. We ended up having to put her down... But she just wouldn't eat her cat food so we let her drink milk and she would just sit in her litter box (which was odd for her) all day. On the last day, she wouldn't drink anymore milk at all. My parents took her to the vet and came back with her... and the bad news. So, it's a possibility your cat may be dying... I'm very sorry. We thought my cat could have had cancer. I'm sorry that's happening to your cat =(

Please, please take your cat to the vet, the doctors will be able to answer all your questions. If money is an issue, contact your local animal shelter and they might be able to direct you to a low-cost vet in your area.
An 8 year old cat should still be in the prime of her life, and the lack of bladder control and the excessive shedding and hiding are all signs that something is wrong. It may be something simple, like a food allergy or it may be a kidney problem. Either way, you need to have someone look at her.

She is very sick and needs to go to a vet right away. You need to bring the litter box closer to where she is or carry her to the litter box several times a day so she can use it.
Shame on your sister! Bring your cat back into the house and tell your sister you will report her for animal cruelty if she kicks your cat out again!
Get her to a vet! Now! Please!

Not sure about the dogfood thing, no real difference that I know to cat food, might be different vitamin and mineral composition. Might not hurt to get her checked for worms...but in all honesty might just do her better to put her to sleep. If it comes to giving her shots everyday, would be better to end her suffering, then prolonging it. Good luck!

You really need to see a vet -- the kitty could have any sort of issue - ranging from a urinary tract infection to kidney failure. Is she vaccinated? If not and she's outdoors, she may have FIV or Felv. If she's too weak to walk there should be no alternative other than getting her to a doctor. 8 years of age is not terribly old for a cat but please get her to a vet.

Eating the dog food isn't so bad...but not eating is. Losing fur can be a sign of anything, and is usually serious. It sounds like you need to get her to the vet right away before anything happens.

Your cat sounds as though she is very ill and should be taken to a vet right away. I had a cat that did similar things... didn't want to eat but begged for everything. He was 15 and had cancer... so we let him pass to the Spirit World. Please try to get someone to do the humane thing... start with the vet. Hugs to you, Bluehawk

Please take her to the vet to find out if there is a medical problem. Then Take her back inside the house even if you must keep her in your room. Tell your sister not to interfere becuase this is your cat and you are legally responsible for its welfare and that YOU will get into trouble if you do not provide care for her.
