she can tell because she just notices your body language when you like someone. you could be talking about him a lot... or when you look at him, or mention his name. moms know everything about their children, especailly expressions

If you mentioned him a lot before and always seemed admiring, she might have picked up on the crush. She was young too before, maybe she can tell because of what she's gone through and she knows what it feels like to crush on someone. Either that or it's pure, unfailing mother's intuition.
