What type of staph did you have?
If you had MRSA, which is methelin resistant staph aureous, that is very serious.
This is the 'Superbug' and is hard to treat.

Usually they drain the boils or abcesses, and give only certain antibiotics.

I was just diagnosed with this this week.I was not sick, and had no wound. I just broke out in multiple boils random places.

Everything I've read says to be on Rifampin and Bactrim antibiotics and Bactroban ointment to your nose. The Dr I'm seeing said this also. She's been seeing 5-6 cases of this a day!!
That's unheard of, and is an epidemic they say.

Other antibiotics won't work, it can keep coming back, and will get stronger.
If not treated properly it can be fatal. The boils can occur on the inside also, and in your heart.

My brother is a cancer patient who broke out with some on his leg. He had a bandage on and clothes, but I was around him. They said this may be how I got it.
His cancer dr only put him on Bactrim, as I guess he didn't know the exact treatment.
My brother has had two more outbreaks since then, in two months. We are getting him to an Infectious Disease dr.

Children, the elderly and sick people are more susceptible, so try to stay away from those people. (my immune system was run down)

If you have any pus or drainage you should keep them covered and try to stay away from most people until those heal.
Hand washing is utmost important!

This is a very confusing issue to all in the medical field.
Please call around and only see a Dr who says they treat this OFTEN, not someone who says they know how to treat it.

As far as your cold, I also came down with a sore throat and swollen nodes in my throat.
The dr said because my system is vulnerable right now. I may have strep throat. Geez.

I don't know if you have MRSA, but if so try to be very healthy. Eat right, drink supplement drinks, OJ, take multivitamins, stay away from sick people, and look for any new bumps.

Good luck to you.
