Oh, those suck sooooo bad!
Here's what I do:
When I feel that tingle that signals I'm about to get one, I get some ice on my lip right away. I follow that with Abreva, (a cold sore remedy that you can find at the drugstore.) I know it's a bit expensive, but that little tube lasts forever. I also keep the lip moisturised with some Blistex or Carmex at all times, and keep a big glob of the stuff on your lip when you go to bed.
I also read somewhere that it may be caused by a drop in Lysine in your body. So, I tried taking Lysine (I got at a vitamin shop) and it seemed to help the sore go away a little faster.
Good luck! Luckily they only last a few days!

Yes, yes, yes. THE BEST! Use secret deodarant. (the white cake type on a stick. stick deodarant. Not spray, not roll on) You will not believe how fast it takes the pain away and the sore. Nearly overnight. No kdiding. Cake it on before bed. (Don't lick it)....and especially use it the moment you start feeling that itch and tingle BEFORE the sore comes out...if you use it at the onset...it will not come out. I get them every year on my birthday and one year I was desperate and just started looking for something to put on it and gosh I don't know what possessed me to use deodarant but ever since that is what I use. Nothing better. (I should patent it! LOL) Take care.

Sorry, I don't think there is. The fastest thing I could find was Abreva. Even that Aveeno stuff doesn't work all that well.

Two things at home that help...Ice and rubbing alcohol, applied directly, but not at the same time.

POWDER ALUM, I THINK YOU CAN BUY AT THE GROCERIES. IT IS USED IN MAKING PICKLES, TO MAKE THEM CRISPY. I USED IT FOR MOUTH ULCERS FROM EATING A LOT OF SPICY FOOD AND MY MOTHER RECOMMENDED IT YEARS AGO AND IT WILL HELP.
