First, know your subject. Practice delivering your speech in front of a mirror. Use palm sized notes on cards, maybe spiral bound so you can turn them easily. Visit the bathroom just before you are due to speak. Don't hurry your delivery, strategic pauses add impact. Look just over your audience's heads while speaking and find a sympathetic face close by to engage every so often. Use your free hand for emphatic gestures. Otherwise place your free hand on your solar plexus. This is emotionally calming. Remember, no one else knows what you intend to say. If you get some words wrong or miss something, no one will know. Picture yourself getting a fantastic response when you finish. Believe you can do it. If all else fails, your Dr may be persuaded to prescribe some beta blockers. Good luck.

Practice, practice, practice before you have to give your speech so that you will be ready. But don't just practice to yourself, practice to other people like your family. Then once you actually have to do it, try not to think about it so you won't get very nervous. While saying your speech, look at one person the majority of the time that you know won't make any weird faces or make you feel insecure. Hope this helps!

I learned to contro my breathing before making my speech or performance and focus on it to a more relaxed pace. I'd even hop around a bit to get rid of that extra energy and then I'd focus on the idea that it's not scarey to stand before the public. People do it all the time, politicians, musicians, actors. It's done all the time and it's possible to be calm.

So just control your breathing, your thoughts and focus on what you want to convey and try to get rid of that extra energy, the adrenaline and nervousness.

'Knowing your material and practicing cant be beat.

First
Stand in an empty place and read your speech out loud to no one but yourself.

Then interject some appropriate light animation to add some interest.

then record yourself, audio for sure, video if you can.

review, do it again in front of a friend with animation.

You will then do just fine.

First of all, whatever you do, don't go cliche and imagine everyone naked. That't just perverted. :)

Look at the wall as you talk, unless you have to look at your notes. If everyone looks bored, then don't panic: no one really listens to speeches, especially ones given in schools.

Speak clearly.

You'll be nervous, but no one's going to bite your head off..just remember what you need to say, say it, and go back to your seat.

Practice, and eat breakfast that day. Breath deeply and just speak as if you were alone.
