There are so many places you can put that. The toe shoes would be cute!...I would do it on the back, but not the lower back. I hate seeing moms get their kids names on that spot.lol I think the lower back is a very sexy area, ya shouldn't put kid names there, yanno?.. But the shoulder blade or your hip would be gorgeous..and sweet.

You will have to do black.. white is only used as an accent color. White ink doesn't show well and lighter colors tend to hurt more than the black. (sometimes you have to make a couple of passes with lighter inks, as opposed to just popping in the black).. or at least as far as I'VE seen.

Don't worry about your family and the school. We had a Sunday school teacher come into our shop the other day who got her kids initials and stars...she got them very small on her neck where the hair will cover them.(* I don't recommend that, either. There will be times when you want to pull your hair up, and can't. *)We have had military, sunday school teachers, preachers, and all sorts come in for tats. There will ALWAYS be a few people who will say . "WHY did you do that to your body?".. If you did it for YOU, you won't have any problems.. and these opinions won't matter.

Sorry for the novel. hahaa..

But that's my answer.. Good Luck.

Hun, you're 27...you don't HAVE to tell your family anything. If you want to get a tattoo to celebrate the birth of your daughter, go for it. The thing is, no one can tell you what to get and where to get it. If you want something truly unique and special, it's got to come from within you. By the way - congrats on the baby :)

I would just do the Birth date and name with a beautiful flower or heart. The shoes sound darling, really do! But she may not be a ballerina type as she grows up and you will have put these shoes as an identity tag to her. A flower or heart is anonymous and uni sex embraced by all. Do it on the left side just under the breast, as she grew under your heart.

I think that is a cute idea but I'd wait a little bit and get a sense of what your child is going to be like. My cousin's son is a total bully.(He's only 5) but he picks on his older brother and can bulldoze through just about anything. Anyways, he got a symbol for bull with his son's name under it. As for your family, screw em', it's your body and your an adult. As for my family, I can't think of anybody that doesn't have one. I design one for my mother. All families are different and you can't base your life around what they want, go for what is right for you.

It's a good idea. How about hand or foot prints, on your hip or shoulder. Include name and date of birth.

Just tell your family this is something you really need to do, most of the time it is easier to get forgiveness than permission.

I think that the ballerina slippers and your daughter's name is a great idea. because you said the slippers is for your love of dance andyou obviously love your daughter and always will. maybe your ankle, shoulder blade, forearm, or inner wrist would be great. because everyone has a lower back tattoo. this tattoo is great because its something that you and you daughter, alone can share.

You need to put the tattoo where you are comfortable and happy having it. It's your skin. If your family doesn't like tattoo's that's cool. They don't have to get one.
If your family doesn't like you because you get tattooed - find a new family!!

You know what I really like?

Tattoos of baby's hand-print over the heart with some symbol of everlasting love and/or protection.

I like that idea. If i were you I wouldn't tell my family. they already expressed that they don't agree with tattoos and thats all you need to know. It is your decision.
