I am going to tell you something that took ME a very long time about 12 years to learn that NO matter what ---- YOU cannot MAKE someone else love you.

I had many people try to talk to me like I am talking to you giving me the same advise, but I was not able to listen until I was forced to realize how lonely I was because I had not been able to MAKE him love me.

Save yourself precious life moments and dont wait until you are desperately lonely.

BTW - I was in love with two guys - the first a work-a-holic. And the second is an alcoholic. Both guys told me they loved me, but just not that way.

I finally was extremely depressed and lonely. I had worked really hard for a BA in teaching and with one outspoken statement, I lost everything. However, during the next two years I would learn that I had really lost nothing because I had not really had anything to lose.

During those two years I sought counsling and ALANON. I am a different person in many ways because of having once lost everything and nothing.

My advice find an Alanon or Alateen meeting, regardless of whether or not you live with someone who drinks or drank. Just go to see what the program is all about.
