I don't know if i should or not. Also, i don't know if i should just let him go or keep trying but i really like him and i dont know what to do.

Did you tell him for his benefit or yours.
A break up is difficult especially if you have been cheated on. If you are truly his friend then back off and help him get over her. If she cheated on him then she is not worth it. Especially if she was hiding it from him. BE HIS FRIEND FIRST. Then see what happens. Remember slow and steady wins the race be patient.

It seems to me that despite the end of the relationship, he is not over her. As tempting as it may be to get close to him during this time, you'll probably end up only helping him get over her and that is all.
It might be difficult, but try supporting him just as a friend - don't get involved with him while she is still first in his mind and heart. It's not fair to him and it is definately NOT fair to you. If you can support him as friend while he's dealing with the relationship, it will give him time to get out of control emotions back under control. When people split up, sometimes there is an excess emotional overflow onto a person of the opposite gender who is there to support. This leads to a bad situation for both parties. Don't fall into it.
If he still cares for you after he gets over her, then you can reassess the situation. I wouldn't recommend trying to start a relationship with him (outside of friendship) for anywhere from now to about 4-6 months. Keep in mind that it takes a long time to get over someone, even if he thinks he is over her, he'll still need time to get balanced on his own again. Give him that time and be there for him as a support. Maybe something will come out when his emotions are back undercontrol.

And yes, guys' emotions do get out of control, they just tend to hide it better than girls because of the pressure society puts on them.

Sounds like y'all are good friends and you should keep it that way. Sometimes friendship is better than a relationship. If he still says he loves her, then dont try and get into a relationship with him. He might end up cheating on you with his ex and thats something you dont want to get yourself into. Stay friends with him. Thats the one thing you know is a guarantee.

I'm sorry you're in pain. But this guy is not the one for you. Move on and find someone who will care for you and only you. Good luck!

This guy is unsure of what he want. You should let him go before you get hurt.
