Exercise is a fabulous way to release endorphines which are our bodys own natural little happy pills. It's a great way to reduce/deal with stress. A well balanced diet rich in Omega 3 and fatty acids (found naturally in fish- wild caught salmon is the best source of this). Avoid alcohol and drugs. Stay on a regular sleep schedule where you can get about 8 hours of sound sleep per night. There are herbal supplements that you can get otc like St. John's Wart (make sure you always list this in any medications you may be taking when asked by a healthcare proffessional). There really is no substitute for a healthcare proffessional where this is concerned. I don't know if depression can be cured (because it almost always returns), but it can be treated very effectively. Good Luck!

I would not say that depression cannot be cured but I have never heard of that happening. Usually depression is managed through therapy and medication(s) if the patient improves there is a good possibility they can manage their depression with just one or the other treatment. Hope this helps. P.S. Go Chargers!

well if it is caused by a physical thing (chemical imbalance) then meds can help. Otherwise it is emotional issues that can be helped. you need to start at the beginning and work your way through lifes events to understand and come to peace with events. Sadly, it is not as easy as it sounds and so many suffer from it yet there is such a stigma attached as it is a sign of weakness. When people see me, they would never ever guess that I have suffered from it. For me one of my defining moments was being raped by my grad date on grad night. It stole my spirit. Defining moments shouldn't define you , just shape the person you become. If handled properly, they can help you grow.
